General Description
Location: Harnosand is situated on the E coast of Sweden in the Gulf of Bothnia. General overview: Harnosand is one of the best natural harbours in Sweden allowing any size of vessel to enter. It is close to the sea, has a good depth of water and well expanded quays. Harnosand is near an extensive industrial area in the middle of the Norrland coastline. In addition to the main harbour, there are the privately owned ports along the River Amgermanalven of Bollsta, Vaja, Lugnvik and Utansjo. Exports: Timber products and ferric oxide. Imports: Dry bulk goods, oils, asphalt and sulphuric acid. Traffic figures: Approx 120 vessels visit the port and over 1,000,000t of cargo handled by the district annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Max draught at liquid bulk port is 10.5m. Largest vessel handled: "Sea Cross", 45,000DWT, tanker, 10.5m draught.
