Location: Can Tho is situated on the Hau Giang, a river making up the Mekong estuaries, approx 61 km from the sea.
General overview: Can Tho Port is a multipurpose river port, which handles dry and liquid bulk, breakbulk and containerised cargoes. It also servs as a fishing harbor. The new wharf of Cai Tho Seaport has opened for container traffic with vessels of max 25,000 DWT. There is a good road connection with Ho Chi Minh city.
Traffic figures: The port handles 1,270,000 t, 4,825 TEU and 1,085 vessels annually.
Load line zone: China Sea Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Jan 21 to Apr 30, Summer May 1 to Jan 20.
