General Description
Location: Hamilton is the principal port of Bermuda, situated S of Spanish Point on the main island. General overview: The principal berths are in line parallel to Front Street which runs along the northern waterfront. All vessels entering Hamilton must take pilot at Five Fathom Hole off the E end of Bermuda and follow shipping channels into the port. The port has a large range of facilities with 795m of quayage with draughts up to 7.9m. Hamilton is a major destination for cruise vessels between Apr and Oct. Traffic figures: Approx 90 passenger vessels, 15,000TEU and 135,495t of general cargo, (including cars) are handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: "Maasdam", cruise vessel, LOA 233m, draught 7.9m.
