General Description
Location: The port of Jiujiang is a river port located on S bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River and bounded by Boyang Lake in the E. It is approx 269km from Wuhan in the W, 858km from Shanghai in the E and 135km N of Nanchang, the provincial capital. General overview: The harbour comprises two operational areas and its location makes it convenient for traffic to the neighboring provinces of Anhui and Hubei, in the N and E respectively. The port's main cargoes include oil/chemical products, general cargo, containers and passengers traffic. Approx 4,000,000t of petrochemical products, 700,000t of coal and 500,000t of cargo/general cargo are imported/exported annually. Traffic figures: Approx 10,000,000t of cargo and 46,000TEU handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Max draught 7.2m during flood season and 4.5m during dry season, 5-35,000DWT.
