Location: Pantoloan is situated on the W coast of the island of Sulawesi on the Makassar Strait. General overview: The port handles exports for Tawaeli (Towaeli), a large village 1.5nm S. It consists of a roadstead anchorage for ocean going vessels which are worked alongside using lighters or by barges which are loaded at a "T" headed pier and a passenger terminal. The main cargoes handled are timber, cement, asphalt and machinery. Traffic figures: Approx 1,900,000t cargo, 69,000TEU and 1,800 vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Anchorage: Max LOA 125m, draught 9.5m, 20,000DWT.
