General Description
Location: Porto Alegre is an inland port situated at the northern end of Lagoa dos Patos. The port is on the E bank of the Guaiba River which flows into Lagoa dos Patos.
General overview: The port of Porto Alegre consists of a 8km length berth (divided between Maua, Marcilo Dias and Navegantes quays). The port has different terminals for grain, general cargo, fertilizers and MPP.

In Gravatai River (Canoas) - metropolitan region of Porto Alegre there is an oil terminal operated by Transpetro (Petrobras subsidiary). The terminal loads bunker to tanker barges, light recycle oil to truck and also receives maritime fuel oil through tanker trucks. They receive from the Alberto Pasqualini Refinery. (Vessels up to 4,000 TPB)
