Location: The port of Shahezi is located on the S bank of the middle reaches of the Songhuajiang River, part of the Heilong River system. It lies 300km downstream of Harbin port and 145km upstream of Jiamusi. General overview: The port is the largest port for coal transport in Heilongjiang Province. It has a land area of 4,080,000m² and a water area of 8,240,000m². The natural shoreline is 35km in length. The port is open for approx 210 days annually and remains frozen from early Nov to early Apr.
