General Description
Location: Al Shaheen Terminal is situated in Qatari national waters, approx. 80 n.m. NNE of the capital city of Doha.
General overview: It is the nation’s largest offshore oil field and one of the largest in the world producing 100 million barrels of oil every year and accounting for 45% of Qatar’s oil production. It has 33 platforms and more than 300 wells. The terminal facility is operated by the North Oil Company and comprises two FSOs – FSO Africa and Asia, moored to SPMs which transfer crude oil to export tankers. The FSO Knock Nevis is located at the terminal close to major shipping lanes as well as the Qatar Gas North Fields "A" (QGPC) and "B" (Qatargas) and "C" (Rasgas) complexes. Traffic conditions in the area can be heavy. The terminal consists of two FSOs (FSO Africa and FSO Asia) moored to SPMs. The FSOs are equipped for crude oil transfer to export vessels in tandem or, in exceptional circumstances ship-to-ship (STS) operation, concurrently with crude oil import and decanted/produced water export
