General Description
Location: Amamapare is located on the SW coast of New Guinea.
General overview: The port is the export outlet for the copper and gold mines at Ertsberg, in Pegunungan Nassau, approx 80nm up Sungai Tipuka. Copper concentrates are piped, in liquid form, to a point near the port where the concentrate is dried and barged to the port. The port is also used by general cargo vessels importing foodstuffs and machinery.
Traffic figures: Approx 170 vessels and 1,800,000t of cargo handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: Berth: LOA 250m, draught 4.0m plus max tide less UKC. Bar max draught approx 6.7m. Anchorage: Vessels can top up at anchorage, 20,000DWT.
Anchorage area : From Buoy ‘A’ in position Lat. 04 – 55.17 S Long. 136 - 40.59 E

Working Hours : 24 Hrs a day, 7 days a week
Pilotage : Compulsory to pilotage meanwhile vessel entering port
Water depth : 4.0 Mtrs ( at between buoy 3,4 and 5 ) – 10 Mtrs LWS
Water Density : Approx 7.5-8.0 m.
Tide range : LW 0.60 Mtrs HW 3.50 Mtrs

Water density : dockside is around 1.016 - 1.020.
Berthing jetty : available at Freeport logistic & jetty Cargo Orica/Explosive
Discharge method : using ships crane with port stevedore by KPI (Kuala Pelabuhan Indonesia) / PTFI.
Port working : 24 Hours with change shift at 05.00 – 07.00 LT and 17.00 and 19.00 LT. except Dangerous Cargo /IMO class 1 is 0800-1300LT only.
