Location: The port of Banjul is located on St Mary's Island on the River Gambia, 26nm from the sea, approx 40nm SE of Dakar. General overview: Banjul is the main port for The Gambia and the gateway to W Africa. The multipurpose port has facilities for handling containers, break bulk, liquid and dry bulk, Ro-Ro, as well as neo-bulk cargoes. Traffic figures: Approx 973,000t of cargo handled annually. Exports: General cargo, textile, fish and fish products, hides, skins and other manufactured goods. Imports: Sugar, rice, flour, cement and liquid bulk products. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Max LOA 300m permitted into the port unlimited at anchorage. Draught 8.5m
