Location: Situated on the Atlantic Seaboard, Philadelphia is located on the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers. General overview: Philadelphia is one of the "Ports of Philadelphia" within the Delaware River Port Area, which include Gloucester City, Camden (see separate entry), Port Richmond and Bristol. The area is centred in an area of heavy population providing a large consumer market. Other ports in the region are Chester, Wilmington, Salem, Delaware City, Marcus Hook, Paulsboro and Pennsauken, which all have separate entries. Traffic figures: Approx 32,300,000t and 256,000TEU handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
