General Description
Location: The port of Dandong is located in the SE of Liaoning Province, in a tributary to the W of the Yalu River. General overview: The Port of Dandong comprises two port areas, Langtou river port area which is situated in Langtou Town, 5nm S of Dandong City on the W bank of the Yalu River, and Dandong (Dadong) sea port which is situated on a headland of reclaimed land, on the W side of a tributary which is close W of the Yalu River estuary. The Langtou Port area and the Dandong Port area are operated by Langtou Port Affairs Company and Dandong Port Affairs Company respectively. Imports: General cargo, edible oil, steel products, grain and ore. Exports: General cargo, pig iron, grain, woodchips and coal. The port is ice free all year round and is easily accessible from all over the country with its port railway and road connecting to the main lines and highways. It has flights nation-wide and sea routes being opened to all the ports at home and abroad, such as Russia, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and other countries in SE Asia. Traffic figures: Approx over 26,000,000t of cargo, 182,000TEU and 80,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Dandong Port area: LOA 180m, draught 12.0m, 50,000DWT.
