General Description
Location: Harlingen is located on the NW coast of the Netherlands bordering the Waddenzee.
General overview: The port possesses over 1,000m of quayage capable of accommodating general cargo, bulk and Ro-Ro vessels. The port handles sea going and inland waterway traffic; is also a fishing port and a support base for offshore oil and gas fields. The Port of Harlingen Authority has more than 2,000 acres of area with 650 ft. of multi-cargo wharf and 100 linear ft. dry bulk wharf, 5 docks are available too. The maximum size of vessels to pass the port's bridges is a length of 16 metres and a breadth of 4 metres, and a draught of 1.40 metres.
Imports include: Agricultural implements, forage, timber and fertilisers.
Exports include: Dairy products, meat, vegetables and flour.
Traffic figures: Approx 3,000,000t of cargo and 15,000TEU handled annually.
Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
Max size: LOA 110m, draught 7.5 m.
