Location: Heysham is situated 1nm SW of Throbshaw Point, in Morecambe Bay on the NW coast of England. General overview: A tidal basin of 14ha with three quays. The harbour handles regular passenger and freight traffic to and from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man. The port has Ro-Ro, general cargo facilities and a supply base for oil and gas. Main cargoes handled are woodpulp, timber, pvc, aggregates and general cargo. Traffic figures: Approx 3,120,000t of cargo and 279,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
