General Description
Location: New Mangalore is situated on the W coast of India in the state of Karnataka, 170NM S of Mormugao and 191nm N of Kochi.
General overview: The Port of New Mangalore, operated by NMPA, is an all weather port developed to complement the limited facilities which exist in the neighbouring port of Old Mangalore, 5NM S, and to serve an adjacent fertilizer factory.
New Mangalore consists of 16 berths for handling a variety of cargoes.
Cargoes:
- Imports: Crude oil, petroleum products, fertilizer products, sulphur, liquid ammonia, phosphoric acid, edible oil, coal, wood pulp, cement and chemicals.
- Exports: Granite, iron ore/pellets, chrome ore, plywood and molasses.
