General Description
Location: Oxelosund is situated on the E coast of a peninsula about 100km from Stockholm, 13km NW of Havringe at the seaward end of Braviken. General overview: The deep water commercial port handles large tankers, bulk carriers, containers, Ro-Ro and general cargo vessels. Exports: Include steel products, coal, coke, grain and oil products. Imports: Scrap iron, coal, coke, iron ore, oil, steel products, fuel chips and limestone. Traffic figures: Approx 900 vessels visit the port and 7,600,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Main Port: LOA 244m, beam 42m, draught 15.5m. Steel Factory: LOA 165m, beam 33m, draught 9.2m. Largest vessels handled: "Queen of Lausanne" 123,969DWT tanker, draught 15.3m and "Nessie" 110,000DWT bulker, draught 14.5m.
