The shipping platform

Location: Pitea is situated some 15km from the city, approx 30nm SW of Lulea and includes the port area of Haraholmen. General overview: It has facilities and machinery for the handling of forest products as well as Ro-Ro and petroleum and oil products. The basin serving the 640m of quay space is kept operational by the use of icebreakers in winter. There is no public transportation available. Traffic figures: Approx 950,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Approx 75,000DWT, max draught 11.5m MWL. Channel depth to Haraholmen 11.5m and to Pitsundet 6.0m.
