General Description
Location: The Port of Ras Lanuf is situated on the northern coast of Africa within the Gulf of Sidra.
General overview: The Port of Ras Lanuf (Sirtica Terminal) is a crucial offshore oil export hub. This terminal encompasses two conventional buoy moorings (CBMs) and two single point moorings (SPMs).
With a refining capacity of 220,000 barrels per day (35,000 cubic meters per day), it serves as a pivotal center for crude oil operations.
Operated by the Ra's Lanuf Oil & Gas Processing Company, a subsidiary of the state-owned National Oil Corporation, this terminal plays a vital role in the oil industry.
Adjacent to the terminal lies the Ra's Lanuf petrochemical complex and essential oil pipelines, including Amal–Ra's Lanuf, Messla–Ra's Lanuf, and Defa-Ra's Lanuf pipelines.
Caution is advised due to the presence of the Weaver fish in the vicinity, known for its venomous dorsal fin spines that can cause extreme pain and severe medical complications to those affected.
