General Description
Location: Shenzhen city is located at the S part of Zhujiang (Pearl) River Delta in Guangdong province.
General overview: The Port of Shenzhen covers the whole district of Shenzhen and is divided geographically into east and west areas. Western port district is situated at the sea entrance of the Zhujiang River, along the east bank of Lingtingyang and consists of Chiwan, Mawan, Shekou and Da Chan Bay Terminal One, all under separate entries. The water area inside the port district is wide, deep and naturally sheltered. The Da Chan Wan Wharf project in W Shenzhen is nearing completion, the project currently has a total of 5 deep water berths. Eastern port district, consisting of Yantian, Xiadong Oil Terminal with Sino Benny LPG terminal and Guangdong Dapeng LNG terminal, is situated inside Dapeng Bay (previously Mirs Bay), a natural bay with depths of 12m to 14m. The port area handles containers, fertiliser, grain, animal food, sugar, steel, cement, timber, sand and stone, crude oil, LPG, LNG, coal and minerals.
Traffic figures: Approx 24,000 vessels, 200,000,000t of cargo and 18,000,000TEU handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: LOA 260m, 14.5m draught and 100,000DWT can be handled at the port.
