General Description
Location: The port of Windsor is situated along 14nm of the S shore of the Detroit River directly opposite the port of Detroit, Michigan. The ports are within 1nm of each other and approx 870nm from the mouth of the St Lawrence River. General overview: Windsor handles a variety of cargoes including salt, stone, construction aggregates, lumber, grain, steel and heavy lifts. The port is capable of handling any of the largest deepwater vessels plying the Great Lakes. Morterm Ltd, a commercial marine terminal operation, offers extensive quayage facilities and also provides stevedoring, ship repair and winter lay up berthing. Traffic figures: Approx 2,293 vessels, 5,125,400t of cargo and 4,150 passengers handled annually. Max size: Seaway vessels: LOA 306.2m, beam 32m and draught 9.0m FW. Largest vessel handled: "Columbia Star", 61,000DWT, bulker, draught 10.0m.
