General Description
Location: The port of São Sebastião is located in the Sao Sebastiao Channel, which is on the N coast of Sao Paulo State.
General overview: The Port of São Sebastião is operated by Companhia Docas de São Sebastião (although it's a public port)
There are 3 distinctive activities in the port:
1) Sao Sebastiao Commercial Quay is used for dry cargo, general, Ro-Ro and containers. This is a public port owned by the federal government but given in concession to the state government of Sao Paulo which, in turn, designated DERSA, a state of Sao Paulo highway authority, to administer it.
2) Maritime petroleum terminal, Admiral Barroso (TEBAR), owned and administered by Petrobras, the state oil company. Used for coasting and ocean going vessels for oil import and export including the produce of offshore platforms.
3) Ferry crossing, between the mainland and Sao Sebastiao Island, across the Sao Sebastiao Channel.
