The shipping platform

Location: The small Aspra Spitia terminal lies on the N shore of the bay, close to Antikyra. The larger Agios Nikolaos Port lies in the SE of the bay. General overview: The Aspra Spitia Ore Terminal handles various cargos in bulk and the Agios Nikolaos Port handles alumina exports for Ahellas Aluminium. It is a medium-sized facility, which handles bulk alumina, caustic soda solution, bauxite, petcoke, coal tar pitch, aluminium slabs/billets, aluminium fluoride and fuel oil products. The port is operated by Aluminium of Greece SA. The port has the only pier, with the length of 400 m., with North and South Berths. The North Berth handles bauxite, coal tar pitch, petcoke, hydrated alumina, aluminium fluoride, aluminium and general cargo. The South Berth handles fuel oil, caustic soda solution, chemicals, alumina and petcoke. Load line zone: Summer.
