Location: Bastia is located on the NE coast of Corsica, 70 n.m. SW of Livorno. General overview: It has 3 harbours; Port Saint-Nicolas (Nouveau Port) the commercial harbour, protected by Jetee Saint-Nicolas, occupies the central and principal basin, to the S of it Vieux Port provides berths for fishing vessels and some small craft. The N harbour, Port de Toga, provides marina facilities for small craft. There are two offshore CBM moorings, Bastia-Sud Gas Terminal for gas carriers and Lucciana Oil Terminal for tankers. Berths: -Mole Sud: length: 158 m; draft: 6.8 m; remarks: Ro-Ro. -Mole Nord: length: 125 m; draft: 6.5 m. -Quai Aviation: length: 45 m; draft: 6.5 m. -Quai Fango: length: 160 m; draft: 6.5 m; remarks: Ro-Ro. -Quai de Rive: length: 160 m; draft: 6.7 m; remarks: Ro-Ro. -Quai Nord: length: 118 m; draft: 6.5 m. -Quai Nord-Est: length: 137 m; draft: 6.5 m; remarks: Bulk Cement. -Quai Est: length: 245 m; draft: 7.5 m; remarks: Ro-Ro, dangerous goods. -Poste 8: length: 150 m; draft: 9.0 m; remarks: Ro-Ro (dolphins). Traffic figures: Approx 2,300 vessels, 2,400,000t of cargo and 2,200,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size handled: New Port: LOA 220m, draught 8.8m.
