General Description
Location: The port is located 120km upstream from the Atlantic Ocean in the Bay of Guajara. Miramar Oil Terminal is located 5km from the Port of Belem (01°24'S 048°29'W).
General overview: Belem is the principal commercial port of the State of Para, N Brazil. Approx 1,337m of berthage is available with a wide range of cargo handled including fuel products at the Miramar Terminal. Main cargoes handled are timber, pepper, heart-of-palm, fish, shrimp, Brazil nuts, wheat, cement and edibles. Containerised bulk must be handled by vessels equipment and can be stored at port facilities. General cargo can be adequately handled by existing port equipment. Specialised handling needs are met by a bulk cargo terminal, tanker terminal and liquefied gas terminal. The port also has extensive ship repair facilities.
Miramar Oil Terminal: Located on the right bank of the Bay of Guajara, 5 km. from the centre of Belem. Main products handled are motor and aviation fuel, ship and motor diesel, and LPG, hydrated and unhydrous alcohol and caustic soda. Average discharge rate 650 tonnes/hr.

-Pier No. 1 is used for discharge and load of bulk liquids and has a bridge connecting to platform (length 80 m.; width 20 m).
-Pier No. 2 has a platform with two berthing dolphins and two moorings (length 400 m., width 20 m.).
Traffic figures: Belem handles almost 3,000,000t of cargo and 50,200TEU annually, at public and private jetties. Miramar handles over 1,600,000t of cargo annually.
