General Description
Location: The port of Chios (Khios) is located on Chios Island in the Aegean Sea. It situates in the central - eastern part of the island. It is 3.5 miles from the peninsula of Eritrea in Cesme.
General overview: Chios is the principle port for Nisos Khios and comprises an outer anchorage and an artificial harbour for ferries and small general cargo vessels. Chios Power Station has an oil berth nearby. The port accommodates 2 passenger / cargo ships of 20,000 tons each one and 1 passenger ship of 700 tons at the same time. The maximum depth of the port is 8.20 meters. In the southern part there is a marina, where there are many fishing boats, sailing boats and yacht. The ferry port on the island of Chios (Northeast Aegean) connects the island with mainland Greece (Kavala, Thessaloniki and Piraeus) and Turkey. Other ferry routes exist to the islands of Ikaria, Fournoi, Samos, Leros, Limnos, Lesbos, Oinousses, Psara, Mykonos, Patmos and Syros.
