General Description
Location: Huelva is situated on the Atlantic coast of the Iberian peninsula. The port is located in the estuary formed by the Odiel and Río Tinto rivers
General overview: The port, located on a river estuary, is ideally placed for the transportation of raw materials and goods to and from the industrial hinterland, and for the carriage of crops. LNG, liquid, dry bulk and general cargoes handled. It is operated by the Port Authority of Huelva Huelva is divided into two sectors: the Inner Port (in the city) and the Outer Port (the main port). The Inner Port's single wharf, the East Wharf, is the one used for smaller traffic including tourist boats. The Outer Port, with six wharves, is located to the south of the River Tinto.
The Port of Huelva’s cargo docks have a total of three thousand meters of berths that include the Ingeniero Juan Gonzalo Wharf of 902 meters with alongside depth of 12 meters and the Northern Zone Wharf of 480 meters long with alongside depth of 13 meters that handle bulk and general cargoes. The Ingeniero Juan Lonzalo Wharf also has almost 20 thousand square meters of covered sheds and a warehouse zone of 95.7 thousand square meters.
The East Wharf contains a berth 520 meters long with alongside depth of 8 meters and handles general cargoes. The East Wharf also contains a berth of 150 meters long with alongside depth of 8 meters for local passengers. The Torre Arenillas Dry Bulk Wharf is 465 meters long with alongside depth of 12 meters. The Torre Arenillas Oil Wharf is 560 meters long with alongside depth of 13 meters. The East Wharf also contains a 530-meter long wharf with alongside depth of 8 meters for fish cargoes.
