Location: Genoa is situated on the coast of the Ligurian Sea, approx 130km E of the French border.
General overview: Port of Genoa is a one-stop multi-purpose seaport with over 20 private terminals that can accommodate any type of vessel and cargo. Cargoes handled in the Port of Genoa include containers, general cargo, liquid and solid bulk, metals, forestry products, perishable goods, petroleum products. In addition it is a major cruise ship and ferry port.
● Container terminals
-The Voltri Terminal Europa (VTE) is the Port of Genoa's biggest container terminal. One of the Mediterranean region's most efficient terminals, the VTE can handle 1.5 million TEUs per year.
-The Port of Genoa's SECH Terminal is operated by Terminal Contenitori Porto di Genova SpA. The terminal is located just a few hundred meters from highways and rail stations, giving it convenient connections for handling cargo.
● Bulk and breakbulk terminals
-Terminal San Giorgio is a Port of Genoa facility and a subsidiary of the Gavio Group. Terminal San Giorgio is the main multi-purpose terminal in the Port of Genoa. Located at Bridge Libya, this Port of Genoa terminal handles containers, break bulk cargo, project cargo, vehicles, and rolling stock.
-The CSM SpA terminal in the Port of Genoa covers a total area of 4.7 hectares, including 2.4 hectares of warehouses and 2.3 hectares of open areas and yards. CSM operates a multi-purpose terminal that handles containers, general cargo, project cargo, and rolling stock. It also provides temporary storage.
-The Terminal Messina in the Port of Genoa is operated by Ignazio Messina & C. SpA. One of the Port of Genoa's oldest shipping companies, the Terminal Messina strives to provide high-quality comprehensive intermodal services for containers, general cargo, rolling stock, and special loads.
-The Port of Genoa's Terminal Forest is operated by the Campostano Group. Operating at a 200-meter (656.2-foot) platform at Somalia Bridge western extension, the dock has berthing distance of 193 meters (633.2 feet) with alongside depth of 10 meters (32.8 feet).
-The Genoa Port Terminal (GPT) is operated by the Spinelli Group of Rebora Industries Srl. The terminal has 1056 meters (3.5 thousand feet) of operating docks and covers a total area of 11.5 hectares, including the 4.8-hectare Service Center Derna.
-Genoa Metal Terminal Srl (GMT) is a world leader in raw materials logistics.The terminal handles, stores, and transports non-ferrous metals, iron alloys, steel, scrap metal, chemicals, timber, and other goods.
-The Terminal Frutta Genova Srl handles fruit and perishable products in the Port of Genoa. Its main activities include importing bananas and pineapples from Central America, apples and pears from Argentina, and citrus from South America and South Africa.
-Terminal Rinfuse Italia SpA operates four terminals in Italy. It operates the Port of Genoa's bulk cargo terminal (Terminal Rinfuse) handling coal, scrap metal, steel products, minerals, fertilizers, sand, bauxite, soybean meal, and fertilizers.
-Rolcim SpA operates the Rolcim Terminal in the Port of Genoa where it imports, stores, and distributes gray and white cement. Rolcim imports products by contract with major national and international shippers. The terminal offers storage capacity for about 18 thousand tons of cargo in the Port of Genoa.
● Oil / Liquid terminals
-Porto Petroli di Genova SpA operates the Port Petroli terminal in the Port of Genoa. The terminal covers an area of 12.3 hectares that include a quay, wharf, and four piers. The terminal handles crude oil and derivatives.
-The Getoil Srl operates a one-acre area in the Port of Genoa with insulated heated eight tanks providing storage capacity for ten thousand cubic meters of petroleum products.
-Petroliq Srl and ENI SpA operates facilities in the Port of Genoa that can load four barges simultaneously or accommodate ships to 180 meters and two barges. The Petroliq facility covers 2.2 hectares and has total capacity for 80 thousand cubic meters of product.
-SAAR Depositi Portuali SpA operates a coastal warehouse in the Port of Genoa for handling a variety of bulk liquid cargoes that include vegetable oils and animal fats. The terminal is located at Paleocapa Bridge in the Port of Genoa.
-Silomar SpA offers four moorings at the Port of Genoa's Ethiopia Bridge for unloading, handling, and storage, of liquid bulk cargoes that include mineral oils, petrochemical products, biodiesel, chemicals, and vegetable oils and fats.
● Cruise terminal
-The Stazioni Marittime (Maritime Station) in the Port of Genoa is the home of five passenger terminals, three serving ferry traffic and two for cruise traffic. It is operated by Stazioni Marittime SpA under a concession that extends to the year 2040.
Traffic figures: Approx 15,800 vessels, 52,000,000t of cargo, 1,800,000TEU and 3,650,000 passengers handled annually.
