General Description
Location: Olbia is situated in NE Sardinia. The port is located on the island's northeastern coast, inside the well protected Olbia Gulf (Tyrrhenian Sea).
General overview: The port has three main port areas, Isola Bianca (White Island) the main passenger terminal, designed to handle 6,000 passengers daily, the old port handling smaller passenger and general cargo vessels and Porto Cocciani, the new industrial port, approx 3km N of the town. Isola Bianca is equipped with 8 docks for ferries and 3 for cruise ships. Fresh water and provisions are available but repair facilities are restricted to smaller craft. The port has a ferry connection with Civitavecchia, Genoa, Livorno and Piombino. Marina di Olbio can host 270 large boats and superyachts up to 80 metres in length.
Traffic figures: Approx 6,000,000t of cargo and 5,000,000 passengers handled annually.
