General Description
Location: Tanjung Bara Coal Terminal is situated on the E coast of Kalimantan, approx 10nm N of Sangatta. General overview: The terminal comprises a "T" head sea island with dolphin extensions connected by a narrow pier, extending ESE from the shore for a distance of approx 1nm. A general service berth, situated 0.3nm S of the root of the coal terminal pier, comprises a "T" head pier extending 0.5nm SE from the shore. Lubuk Tutung Coal Loading Anchorage: The self propelled FTS "Bulk Pioneer", LOA 91.5m, operates offshore loading gearless bulk carriers at anchorage. Traffic figures: Approx 280 vessels and 35,000,000t of coal handled annually. Max size: Tanjung Bara Coal Terminal: LOA 310m, beam 50m. Max draught 17.2m plus tide less UKC, 220,000DWT. UKC: Under keel clearance of 0.75m required whilst in the berth and 1.25m when sailing. Draught/trim: Masters should ensure that the arrival draught for ballast vessels is consistent with safe manoeuvring. As a guide the min draught should be such that: The propeller is fully immersed or 90%; A stern trim of no more than 3.0m. Airdraught: The max airdraught allowable is 22.0m at HAT. Masters must ensure that the max airdraught of the vessel does not exceed 22.0m, including the height of the hatches for side opening hatches. Vessels which exceed 22.0m airdraught must communicate with the Marine Superintendent prior to arrival as some allowance may be possible due to tidal height. Largest vessel handled: "Alexander Carl" 210,000DWT (fully loaded). FTS "Bulk Pioneer": Capesize, beam 45m, 180,000DWT.
