General Description
Location: Mykonos is the principal port of Mykonos island, one of the Greek islands in the central Aegean.
General overview: There are two harbours for passenger vessels. Mykonos, the old port, is a small artificial harbour fronting the N side of the town of Mykonos. The old port was used as the main port of Mykonos island in earlier years and now serves only itineraries on occasion. The harbour is protected from the W by a S'ly breakwater, 170m in length and from the N by a mole 230m in length. Smaller ferries, coasters and fishing craft use this port.
The new port of Tourlos is located 1nm N of Mykonos with anchorages and docking for large passenger/cruise vessels, fast ferries and yachts. Mykonos cruise ship terminal is located at Tourlos. Mykonos cruise port dock at Tourlos serves only smaller cruise ships. Larger vessels anchor in the bay and the passengers are tendered ashore by boats. Mykonos cruise port is in the itineraries of most of the major cruise lines including Norwegian Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Cunard, Pullmantur Cruises, Princess Cruises, Windstar Cruises, Crystal Cruises, SeaDream Yacht Club, Oceania Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Silversea and Regent.
Mykonos cruise port tender dock is in the old harbour. Imports consist of cereals, olives and general goods. Exports consist of meat, wheat, vegetables, cheese, mineral ores and textiles.
Traffic figures: Approx 550 vessels and 700,000 passengers visit the port annually.
