Location: The port of Reykjavik is located on the SW coast of Iceland. General overview: The port, together with Akranes and Grundartangi ports have merged and are now known as Associated Icelandic Ports. Reykjavik has over 4,000m of quayage capable of accommodating fishing and cargo vessels. It is Iceland's central depot for petroleum products. There are two main harbour areas, the Gamla Hofnin (Old Harbour) handling fishing vessels, bunker barges and ship repairs and the Sundahofn, containing modern container, grain, cruise ship and Ro-Ro facilities. The approach to the harbour is unrestricted and ice free all the year round. Principal imports include oil products, fertilisers, cement and general cargo. Principal exports include fish products, general cargo, fertilisers and oil. Traffic figures: Approx 1,994,526t of cargo and 228,419TEU handled by the port annually.
