Location: The port of Penang is located on the NE coast of Pulau Pinang in Malaysia.
General overview: The Port of Penang is a well-equipped port that provides modern facilities for handling containers, liquid bulk, dry bulk, and break bulk cargoes. The Penang Port Commission, as the port authority, also operates a 24-hour ferry service that connects the island to the mainland.
The port mainly imports petroleum products, iron, steel, and raw sugar, while exports comprise mainly electrical, rubber goods, and manufactured products.
However, vessels with LOA ranging between 168-230m can only berth during ebb tide at night.
