Location: Mangalia is situated on the Black Sea, 38km S of Constantza. General overview: A satellite port of Constantza, supporting it by catering for smaller vessels up to 10,000DWT. The port has an area of 50.4ha, of which 16.6ha is land area. The Daewoo Mangalia Shipyard build all types of commercial vessels up to LOA 260m, 110,000DWT, there are 3 drydocks. The port is enclosed by the NE and SE breakwaters and is divided into N and S basins by a mole extending E. The breakwaters have a total length of 2,740m.There are 4 berths totaling 540 meters in length, 2 of which are operational. Maximum depth is 9 meters. Main cargoes handled are iron ore, oil products and mineral products. Open storage of 20,000 sq.m and covered storage of 4,300 sq.m are available. Mangalia Marina is a harbour for yachts and small boats (up to 18 m long) located on the Black Sea coast. It is the most modern tourist harbour in Romania. The Mangalia Marina has a total capacity of 146 mooring places. Traffic figures: Approx 120 vessels and 200,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer.
