Location: Motril is situated midway between Malaga (81 km E form the city) and Almeria (120 km N from the city) on the southern Spanish coast,
General overview: The port is protected by the W mole which is approx 1,400m in length. More than half of the total traffic is liquid bulk, petroleum products and oil. There is also a wide range of general cargo and dry bulk both for import and export. The Port of Motril has 7 commercial docks and 1 fishermen dock reaching a total sum of 3,127 linear metres for mooring. The ferry port of Motril is served by crossings from Melilla, Tangier Med, Al Hoceima and Nador in Morocco.
