General Description
Location: The port of Visby is situated on the island of Gotland in the middle of the Baltic Sea. General overview: The harbour, which includes 5 cruise berths, is protected by breakwaters, it is well sheltered but when a heavy sea prevails at the entrance, it is felt in both the outer and inner harbours. Cargo handled: Export: Grain, pulpwood, sugar and timber. Imports: Gravel, fertiliser and oil. Traffic figures: Approx 1,500 vessels totalling 20,700,000GT visit the port annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 200m. Max draught: Ferry Terminal 7.5m, Oil Terminal 7.5m, Inner Port 5.5m (Pier 4 has 6.3m).
