General Description
Location: Bengkulu is situated on the SE coast of Sumatera. General overview: The port of Bengkulu is mainly an anchorage port but has a boat harbour protected by breakwaters, only small craft can enter the port and moor alongside pier. Deep draught vessels use the new port of Pulaubaai which is mainly used for the export of coal from Indonesia's largest open cast mine at Tanjungenim, 160km E. Rice, coffee and timber products are also exported. Imports include general cargo and petroleum products. Traffic figures: Approx 2,000,000t of coal handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: LOA 220m, beam 35m, draught 9.4m HW, max airdraught 11m, 47,000DWT.
