General Description
Location: Teluk Bayur is situated on the S bank of Sungai Segah on the W coast of Sumatera. General overview: Teluk Bayur is a coaling station. Coal is shipped 155km by rail from the mines at Ombilin and Allied Indo to the port where it is loaded by conveyor. The port has facilities for handling containers, dry and liquid bulk cargo, general cargo, dangerous cargo as well as cattle. Exports: Consist of coal, cement, rubber, obsidian, plywood, cassiavara moulding and coffee. Imports: Consist of fertiliser, asphalt, paper, gypsum and building materials. Traffic figures: Approx 2,800 vessels totalling 8,170,000GT visit the port annually. Cargo throughput approx 6,859,650t handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Max LOA 180m, beam 30m, draught 8.5m, 30,000DWT.
