General Description
Location: Port of Berre is located on the S coast to the W of Marseille. Port de Berre lies in Etang de Berre, approx. 7 n.m. NE of Port de Bouc.
General overview: Berre (Etang de Berre) contains the private oil ports of La Mede and La Pointe. The region is a subport of Marseilles. Cie de Raffinage Shell Francaise (Berths No. 751 – 754). The berthing installations of the Cie de Raffinage Shell Francaise SA have connections to its tanks by specialised pipelines for the various products. They provide loading and discharge outputs from 120 – 500 cu.m./hr. according to product. Depot of the Port de la Pointe de Berre 161,000 cu.m. Storage area of the Shell Refinery 1,390,000 cu.m. to which may be added 260,000 cu.m. of crude oil brought by pipeline to the Shell Refinery from the Lavera and Fos berths.
