General Description
Location: The Port of Hakata is situated in Fukuoka prefecture, facing Hakata Bay.
General overview: The Port of Hakata is a natural port which is enclosed on three sides, on the fourth side is the island of Nokonoshima. Hataka is both a commercial port and a fishing port.
The port consists of 71 berths for handling passengers, rubber products, vehicles, fertilizers, wheat, chemicals, etc.
The Port of Hakata also consists of the following areas:
- Aratsu Area (Handling LPG, petroleum products, heavy oil, etc.)
- Suzaki Wharf (Handling beans, wheat, corn, wood & steel products)
- Hakata Pier (Handling mostly fertilizers)
- Chuo Wharf (Passenger Terminal)
- Higashihama Wharf (Handling LPG, LNG)
- Hakozaki Wharf (Handling general cargoes, timber)

Traffic figures: Approx. 30,730 vessels 29,700,000t of cargo including 800,000TEU and 1,750,000 passengers handled annually.
