General Description
Location: The Port of Matsushima is situated at the western end of Kyushu in Nagasaki Prefecture, approx. 40km NW of Nagasaki city.
General overview: The Port of Matsushima, operated by Electric Power Development Co Ltd, offers a range of facilities for handling various types of cargo, including coal, oil, fly ash, gypsum, and lime.
The port features a single jetty with four berths, each designed to accommodate different types and sizes of vessels.
The largest berth can handle coal carriers up to 87,000DWT with a maximum draft of 14m, while the second coal berth can accommodate vessels up to 5,000DWT with a maximum draft of 8m. Two smaller berths are available for vessels of 2000DWT.
The port also features a coal stacking area with a storage capacity of 430,000 tons and an ash pond, as well as four unloaders with a capacity of 700 tons per hour.
The port is protected by a breakwater and provides a secure environment for shipping operations
