General Description
Location: The Port of Chiba is situated in the NE part of Tokyo Bay, almost in the center of Japan
General overview: Chiba is Japan's largest port, in terms of port area, covering some 24,800ha with a total of 11,600m of public mooring wharves with 94 berths.
The Port of Chiba has 2 port wards:
- Chiba Port Ward
The Chiba District consists of the container terminal, passenger pier and Ro/Ro cargoes. Also accommodates a LPG bases, petroleum and chemical manufacturers.
- Katsunan Port Ward
The Katsunan District mainly handles scrap metal, gravel, sand and metal on its public quays. There is also a part operated by automobile, food, steel material companies.
In addition, there are 5 berths with quays specifically equipped for earthquake resistance and events of disaster.

- Dry Bulk vessels: Max draught 17.0m // 200,000DWT.
- Container vessels: LOA 218m // Beam 30.2m // Draught 11.1m // 30,000DWT or 2,000TEU.
- Tanker Sea Island: Max draught 20m // 300,000DWT.
