General Description
Location: The Port of Shimizu is situated on the Pacific coast of Honshu, near the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture.
General overview: The Port of Shimizu is an important commercial port with a natural harbor protected by breakwaters. There is a VLCC oil sea berth and a LNG terminal, and many cruise vessels also call at the Hinode Wharf.
Xingjin Wharf is located from north to south and has two south-extending jetties. The outer side of No. 1 jetty is also used as a breakwater, and the inner side and the coast of No. 2 jetty have 14 berths, including 8 10000 ton berths, which are mainly used for loading and unloading groceries. Berths 11 and 12 are special container terminals, suitable for 30000 DWT ships. No. 13 and No. 14 berths are reserved for cars only.
The East Asia fuel terminal has 10 shallow water berths and one 250000 DWT offshore crude oil berth. Jiangjiri Wharf is located in the harbor basin area with a concave land bank in the middle. There are 18 shallow water berths for fishery. Fengnian trestle wharf has 10000 ton grain and sugar kiln wharf berths. There are five shallow water berths in the Qingshui Harbor, which are used for loading and unloading steel and metal.
The Sunrise general cargo terminal has five along-shore berths, including three 10000 ton berths. The railway terminal has a 5000 ton cement berth. Fujijian Wharf has seven berths along the shore, followed by five 10000 ton berths for loading and unloading of wood, grain, cement, sugar, etc. The metal terminal is located on the east bank of the fjord and handles bauxite and aluminum. There are also two log yards and shipyards in the harbor.
In Hong Kong, there are more than 80 berths above 700 tons, including more than 30 berths above 10000 tons, including 5 container berths.
