General Description
Location: Torre Annunziata is situated approx 16km SE of Naples.
General overview: The port is sheltered within two breakwaters from all but SE'ly winds which may cause a build up of surf inside the harbour. The port is mainly used for unloading cereals. It consists of a 1,100-metre-long western dock and a 200-metre eastern one, each equipped with quays. There are 3 quays for general cargoes. A dock in the innermost part of the structure can receive fishing boats and hosts some boat slips. Another dock in the innermost part of the eastern jetty, on the contrary, hosts the offices of the Port Authority and Customs and the old spaces of general markets. Larger vessels can discharge at anchor in the roads, lighters are available from Naples. Vessels' services generally arrive via Naples where there are also a number of agencies.
