Location: Porto Nogaro is situated at the northern end of the Adriatic, 10nm inland accessed via a canal with an entrance in the Gulf of Trieste. General overview: It is the river port for San Giorgio di Nogaro, comprising the Old and New Port, for general cargoes and containers nad also there is a private port (ex Industrie Chimiche Caffaro, with access through an artificial channel of about 1.5 miles). Exports include steel, machinery and chemicals. Imports are mainly scrap iron. From the point of view of the nautical pleasure, it consists of up to 1500 berths. The port is located at the are of 36 hectares, where portyards, storage areas and covered warehouses ar located. The port can handle the vessels up to 15,000 dwt. The length of the quays in Old Port extends up to 400 m, in New Port - up to 800 m. Traffic figures: Approx 1,338,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Max draught: Old Port 4.7m, New Port 6.2m. Max deadweight: 15,000 t. The largest vessel called at the port: LOA: 153 m, draught: 6.4 m, deadweight: 16,817 t.
